What this site is for
Large tax credit deals have banks, marketplaces and law firms. Smaller sellers, with a few hundred thousand to a few million dollars of credits, face the same paperwork on a much smaller base. This site is for them, and for the buyers, advisers and tax preparers who work with them: the clearest reference we can make on how transfers work, plus a Readiness Checker that shows what a buyer will ask for before the first call.
Who is behind it
TaxCreditTransfer is founded, written and maintained by Ahmad Hassan, PhD. Every page is researched from primary materials (the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury regulations, the Federal Register and IRS guidance), explained in plain English, dated, and re-checked when the guidance moves.
To be clear about what that means: this is an independent publisher, not a law firm, accounting firm, broker, marketplace or registered investment adviser. Nothing here is tax, legal or financial advice, and reading it does not create a professional relationship. For decisions about your own situation, work with a qualified tax adviser or attorney.
How the site is funded
The site is free to read and carries no display advertising. When a reader asks us to, we introduce them to third-party providers that transact these credits (marketplaces, brokers, insurers, or advisory and law firms), and we may receive a referral fee or other compensation if they go on to work with that provider. An introduction is never an endorsement, and what we publish is not shaped by who pays us. We share your details only with your consent; see the privacy policy and the Desk.
How we work
- Primary sources first. Legal and tax facts link to the statute, the regulations or IRS guidance, with the date we last checked them. Market figures come only from named, dated public reports and are labelled as estimates. See the source library.
- Corrections in public. Errors are fixed and listed on the updates page.
