Editorial policy and corrections

Accuracy is the product. This is how we source, check, date and correct what we publish.

Page reviewed

Sources

  1. Law first. Every legal or tax statement is supported by a primary source: the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury regulations, the Federal Register, or IRS forms, instructions, notices and web guidance. Each citation shows the date we last checked it.
  2. Market figures are estimates. Prices, fees, insurance costs and market volumes come only from named, dated public reports, and we label them as market estimates, not facts about your deal.
  3. Law-firm and industry summaries are pointers. We may read them to find a rule, but we cite the rule itself.
  4. Nothing invented. We do not publish statistics, quotes, testimonials, case studies, deals, client names or credentials that we cannot source. If a fact cannot be verified, we leave it out.

Dates and updates

Each page carries the date its sources were last checked. When guidance changes, we update the page and the underlying data, and log the change on the updates page. Deadlines and prices are kept in single data files, so a change made once appears everywhere it is used.

Use of AI

We use AI tools, including large language models, to research guidance, draft and update pages and handle the Desk’s correspondence. Every legal or tax fact on a page is checked against the primary source cited next to it before publication. AI does not decide introductions: no reader is introduced to any provider without their consent and without a person approving it.

Independence

The site earns referral fees for consented introductions (see about). No provider pays for coverage, rankings or wording, and providers do not review pages before publication.

Corrections

If you think something is wrong, email the Desk and write “correction” in your message, with the page address and, if possible, a link to an official source. We review every report, fix verified errors promptly and list material corrections on the updates page with the date.

Not advice

Everything here is general educational information, not tax, legal or financial advice. See the disclaimer.
